Can you relate to these marketing challenges?

At the most recent Marketing Surgery we did a ‘round the room’ to get a feel for the kinds of marketing challenges that business owners in Fife were currently having.

Here is a list of the kinds of challenges that people mentioned:

  • Finding the time to develop and implement ideas for marketing
  • Striking the balance between the time for planning and the time for making the sales
  • The feeling of being overwhelmed by new information
  • Not fully understanding what to do
  • Not sure where to start
  • Not really sure how much money to invest in marketing

These are all fairly common marketing challenges and I’m sure that you’re reading this and thinking “Yeah, I can relate to that”.

Don’t worry, we’re in this together

When speaking to and working with business owners I always empathise with their situation, because the reality is that almost everyone is having the same challenges with their marketing, including me! We all struggle with deciding how to spend our time and money, it’s very difficult to get the balance perfectly correct. So you can take comfort in knowing that you’re not alone here.

In fact, one of the best things you can do is get around people who are dealing with the same issues and help each other to overcome them by sharing experiences.

There are lots of ways to develop yourself so you can get better at marketing and get better at dealing with these challenges. I truly believe that most of the challenges above can be reduced by spending more time planning and trying to figure out what’s important for your business.

It’s OK to ask for help

Don’t feel like you can’t ask for help, and don’t feel ashamed to ask for help either. There’s always someone else who’s overcome the same challenge you’re dealing with right now, all you need to do is find them and ask them for help. You’ll find that most people enjoy helping others.

I’m definitely one of those people, are you? One of the main reasons I started Learning Everyday was to help people and to make a difference in the best way that I can.
